Karen’s parents live in Miami, FL, where she grew up. As a family, we visit several times a year, where we enjoy swimming at her parent’s home in Florida. Additionally, Karen’s parents visit us often in NY. Zachary and Jacob call Karen’s parents "Grandma and Grandpa”. They are wonderful people who love and cherish all the moments with their grandkids. Karen also has a sister, Sheryl, who is married to Rob with four children-Sara, Ben, Matthew and Rebecca (ages 13, 11, 8 and 6). They live in Chicago, and we also see them several times a year. One of Zachary and Jacob’s favorite things to do is to visit their cousin’s in Chicago and join them at their summer home in Michigan, just an hour from Chicago. All the kids are extremely close and love being together. We have a great time when the family comes to stay with us, and we have a full house.
Michael’s parent’s live in Long Island, NY where he grew up. We often see Michael’s parents for holidays, birthdays and regular weekend visits. Zachary and Jacob call Michael’s parents “Nanny and Poppy”. They are warm, loving people who can’t wait for the weekend visits to spend with their grandkids. Michael also has a sister, Sharon, who lives an hour away with her two children- Andrew and Evan (ages 14 1/2 and 12 1/2). Everyone has a blast when we go to visit Michael’s parents and join them at the beach near their home and also the beach club with Sharon, Andrew and Evan. It’s great when we stay by the beach, swim at the club pool and have family BBQ gatherings afterwards. We also love when the family comes to visit us, join us at our pool club and enjoy nearby activities.
We have a very close family, and we think it is so important for the kids to see their aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents on a regular basis. We also have close cousins from both sides of our families that we enjoy seeing for holidays and gatherings. For us, it is nice to spend great quality time with our families, and because of the closeness of both our families, it feels as if we are amongst friends.
